Technical Sergeant Michael Pietroforte began competitive shooting in 1948 when stationed in China coached by the great Marine Shooter of the 1930s Claude N. Harris. A solid shooter who wn many NationalMatch and NRA Championhsip trophies Pietroforte greatest day was on September 2, 1958 at Camp Perry. Firing in the National Individual Match he became the first person to shoot a perfect 250X250 across the National match Course on the Five-V target. The U.S. Marine Corps Distinguished Shooters’ Association, though private donation, presented a tropy in his honor, to be awarded to the civilian with thw highest aggregate score in the NTI and NTT.
